Wireless Communications Providers Information Leasing & Space for Wireless Communications
Frederick County Board of Commissioners adopted a policy in 2004 for wireless providers to apply for leased space for communications providers to lease space on county-owned facilities or property. This policy is intended to allow commercial communications service providers access to Frederick County Government owned real estate assets for the purpose of locating communications antennae.
The following objectives are being recognized in this process:
Fostering increased telecommunications coverage and capabilities for the good of county citizens and travelers in Frederick County, Maryland;
Encouraging, where possible, co-location of communications antennae on county properties;
Protection of the view shed;
The use of stealth technology to minimize the visual impact of communications facilities; and,
Recognizing potential revenue.
The first contact for a wireless provider who wants to lease space on a county facility or property is to contact the county owner agency. The county has prepared a work flow diagram to show wireless providers how the county handles this process.
