Suggestions for Managing Your Yard Waste
  • Grasscycling
  • Backyard composting
  • Drop off yard waste for no charge at 1 of the 2 County Yard Waste Collection Sites: Walkersville's Heritage Farm Park (residential use only) or the Reichs Ford Road Mulch and Composting Facility (residential and commercial use). Addresses and site hours listed below.
  • Curbside Collection: Residents of municipalities and those living in homeowner association-controlled areas may have curbside yard waste collection provided for them by these entities; please contact your Town Office or HOA for more information (Frederick County Government does not provide home yard waste collection). Residents in areas without an established yard waste collection program may wish to contact a local-waste hauler, as some offer yard waste collection in addition to regular trash service.

Please Remember
Since 1989 Maryland law has required that, "A vehicle with any load may not be driven on any highway unless the load and any covering on the load are fastened securely to prevent the load or covering from becoming loose or detached or from in any way endangering other users of the highway." This include loads of yard debris, mulch or compost!
