The Frederick County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) Community Deputy Unit and Town of Middletown are excited to announce that they will once again be hosting the FCSO Junior Deputy Academy (JDA) in 2014 for children living in the Middletown, MD community. This year the academy will host 2 sessions, June 23rd and 24th, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Middletown Community Park (off of Coblentz Road) in Middletown. The first session on the 23rd will be open to children 5-8 years of age, and the second session on the 24th will be open to children ages 9 to 11.

Junior deputies will move through stations that are specifically geared toward public safety. They will participate in law enforcement related scenarios, attend a K-9 demonstration, learn about stranger danger, bike safety, processing crime scenes and participate in a kid friendly obstacle course. They will also have an opportunity to talk with deputy sheriffs, firefighters and other public safety personnel as well as view a vast array of public safety vehicles and equipment.
Check in time begins promptly at 8:45 a.m. at the upper pavilion / concession stand area near the ball fields. There is no cost to attend the academy and parents are not required to stay. Lunch and drink will be provided to junior deputies. Please make sure that your junior deputy wears comfortable clothing including shoes with an enclosed toe.
