Commissioners reviewed the estimated $427 million budget and voted to reduce a $39.5 million deficit by $14.9 million, resulting in a remaining deficit of $24.6 million. The Board will release details of a balanced budget on April 6.

There’s a buzz in the air, thanks to the Bee - the 2010 Frederick County Spelling Bee, that is. This year’s competition is the third annual event, and organizers expect that more than 100 spellers will participate in the popular competition.

In order to provide as many instructional days as possible we have changed our current operating schedule for the next few months:
Parent/Teacher conference days (March 1 & 2) are cancelled. All centers will be open on March 1st, March 2nd, March 31st and April 1st.
Starting March 12, 2010 through April 30, 2010, the Health Department is offering H1N1 flu vaccine at walk-in clinics (no appointment is necessary) every Friday and Monday at the Health Department.
