About Us
The Frederick County Adult Detention Center is a full service correctional facility offering all available alternatives to incarceration to include: Pretrial Services, Home Detention, Alternative Sentencing/Community Service and Work Release, as well as traditional incarcerations and imprisonment for offenders either awaiting trial or sentenced to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.
Sentenced offenders are incarcerated at a local correctional facility for a maximum of 18 months. For any sentence greater than 18 months, the offender will be sent to the Maryland Department of Public Safety/Division of Corrections.

The Corrections Bureau is comprised of four Divisions of Operations
- Administrative Services
- Community Services
- Inmate Services
- Security Operations
- Within each of these Divisions, there are sections or units.
The Corrections Bureau is comprised of a total of 202 employees which include:
- 134 Correctional Officers
- 38 Civilian Staff
- 3 County Maintenance Technicians
- 27 positions managed under contractual services to include State and Federal Grants
- This does not include over 200 estimated volunteers
who provide valuable services and programs to the incarcerated and
community based offender population
