Medical and Mental Health
Responsibilities
Medical and Mental Health Services are provided to inmates through a contractual agreement with a medical provider. The National Commission on Correctional Health Care accredits medical care at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.

Inmates receive appropriate in-house care and may be referred to outside providers for specialized care. Inmates are required by law to pay a co-pay of $4.00 per medical visit and $4.00 for each prescribed medication. Dental services are also provided for a $4.00 co-pay

Mental health staff includes a psychiatrist, psychologist, and licensed Social Workers. They work with inmates individually, manage medications, and provide group counseling. They also ensure that inmates are linked to community agencies for continued care upon release from incarceration.
