Board of Zoning Appeals Background
The Frederick County Board of Zoning Appeals was established in conjunction with the original Zoning Ordinance in 1959. The Board of County Commissioners normally appoints 5 members and 1 alternate member of the Board to staggered 3-year terms. The Board adopts its own administrative procedures and has the following powers:
The Board of Zoning Appeals meets on the 4th Thursday of every month unless otherwise noted on the filing deadlines or by the Chair. Volunteers for the Board membership should apply in writing to the Office of the County Manager.
