Catoctin Mountain Scenic Byway Plan
In May 2004 the
Frederick
County Board of County Commissioners voted to adopt the Catoctin
Mountain Scenic Byway corridor Management Plan, culminating a 2-year
effort working with a consultant and a citizens advisory committee. In
September 2005, the Federal Highway Administration named the Catoctin
Mountain Scenic Byway as a National Scenic Byway. This designation does
not apply any regulations or restrictions on land use or development
along the U.S. 15 corridor. It does allow the County, municipalities, or
private/non-profit organizations to apply for Federal grants that would
help to promote, maintain, and enhance the Catoctin Mountain Scenic
Byway.
