The Frederick County tax sale is an internet-based auction held on the second Monday in May, starting at 10:00 a.m. at www.frederickcountymdtaxsale.com. The tax sale properties are advertised in a local newspaper and on our website approximately 30 days preceding the tax sale.
Pre-registration of bidders is required and can be completed online at our website. No mail-in, walk-in or email registrations will be accepted. A registration fee is required payable via an ACH debit authorization. Payment for tax sale purchases will be made in the same manner. Payment must be made by 5:00 p.m. the day of tax sale.

Any properties that do not sell at the auction will be sold at lien value at an online assignment sale. The date and time of the assignment sale and instructions will be posted on the website after the tax sale.
Legal proceedings cannot begin until six months after the tax sale, but must be started within two years of the sale date or you lose your down payment.
