More than seven million Americans currently abuse prescription drugs, according to the 2009 Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration’s National Survey on Drug Use and Health. Each day approximately 2,500 teens use prescription drugs to get high for the first time, according to the Partnership for a Drug Free America. The Frederick County Health Department has partnered with local law enforcement agencies to get the word out of the dangers of prescription medication abuse and safe disposal of unused medicine.

Local Prescription Drug Disposal Sites

There are several sites throughout the county where citizens can safely dispose of their expired and/or unwanted household medicines and prescription drugs.  This collaborative effort the Frederick County Health Department and local law enforcement agencies offer an effective and convenient way for concerned residents to help prevent illegal drug use and misuse in Frederick County.  Local medication drop-off locations include
