Frederick County Child Health Partnership
Mission Statement
The Mission of Frederick County Child Health Partnership (FCCHP) is to encourage and enable children of Frederick County to adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles.
Through public/private partnerships the FCCHP plans to develop a well community that is inclusive, non-judgmental, non-discriminating and advocates for environmental changes, opportunities for choices of physical activities, healthy food and overall wellness.
Background
A grant received by the Frederick County Health Department through the American Academy of Pediatrics made it possible to convene the expertise of community leaders, businesses, health care providers and members of the Frederick community who have interest in addressing the issue of childhood overweight in Frederick County.
The FCCHP held its inaugural meeting and strategic planning session at the FMH Wellness Center on April 20, 2007.
A
report of these proceedings was created and participants were invited to join the partnership in order to continue the collaborative process.
Additionally, the FCCHP held focus groups comprised of community members and key stakeholders to gain insight into parental perceptions of the problem of childhood obesity and community assets available to address the issue. The
Focus Group Report provides a summary of these findings.
Membership
The Coalition welcomes new members with an interest in promoting healthy lifestyles for children and families.
Please call 301-663-5131 x1235 for information regarding our next meeting.
