City of Frederick Annexations
The Board of County Commissioners unanimously opposes the Thatcher and Crumland Farm property annexations that were recently approved by City of Frederick elected officials.
There are serious traffic safety issues with respect to U.S. 15 and a high volume of traffic at dangerous at-grade intersections. Development of these two properties without an interchange and elimination of the at-grade crossings will jeopardize the safety of City and County residents.
Development will increase demands on the public school system and worsen school overcrowding. The impact on public safety (fire and EMS) is also not clearly defined. Further, no agreement has been
reached for sewer capacity for these properties.
Contact the Board of County Commissioners (301-600-1100) if you have any questions or would like additional information.
NOTE: The citizen petition drive must collect signatures from 20 percent of the City's voters -- about 7,200 -- by October 18. See the link on the left for a listing of signing locations.
