Energy Efficiency & Conservation Block Grant (EECBG)
Overview
The Sustainability Office coordinated the county's $659,800 EECBG award. The award supported development of a Frederick County Energy and Green Building Program; installation of a solar thermal pre-heating system at the Adult Detention Center; energy audits for county buildings; retrofits to lighting and mechanical equipment at the Courthouse, Pinecliff Park A-Frame, and highway truck sheds; a greenhouse gas emissions inventory; and a community-based home energy audit project, which is an element of the Frederick County Green Homes Challenge.

Prior to receiving grant funds, the County was required to submit an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy to the U.S. Department of Energy. Our DOE-approved strategy is here: Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy
