History Background
The Child Advocacy Center (CAC) was established on November 30, 1999 with the approval of the Frederick County Board of County Commissioners. Currently, our CAC is primarily funded by the County with occasional donations from the public.

Establishing CACs in each county of Maryland is currently underway and was made necessary by the Family Law Article of the Annotated Code which mandates coordinated law enforcement/ social service investigations of child abuse and child sexual abuse cases.
