R Info 4 Kids! Recycling Education Kits

R Info 4 Kids! We've created fun kits to help students in grades K-2 and grades 3-5 learn about waste and recycling.  The kits are available for loan at no charge to classroom teachers and come packed with a wide variety of age-appropriate educational materials, from DVDs and books, to show & tell items, lesson plans and hands-on activities.

Kits are designed to inform, engage and inspire students to think green.  In addition to the materials on loan, each individual class borrowing a kit may receive a limited number of coloring books, pencils or other items to help students remember to recycle!

Kits must be reserved in advance and may be borrowed for up to four weeks. Kits may be reserved online or by calling 301-600-7405.

We now have four posters available to help educate elementary students about what should and should not be placed into recycle bins and trash cans.
Download them here:

• Full Recycling & Trash Chart: a perfect wall poster.
• Recycle Bin Chart: just right to label a blue bin.
• Trash Can Chart: tape it right on to the waste receptacle.
• TerraCycle Reminder Chart: for some schools, not all waste is equal!

Discover the "Magic of Recycling"!

magic.jpgTo date, fourteen FCPS elementary schools have benefitted from having school-wide assemblies presented to their students to educate about the process and importance of recycling. These interactive, entertaining shows are put on by a professional performer and entirely funded by a grant obtained by the Department of Solid Waste Management.
