Mission Statement
To attempt resolution of authorized equal opportunity complaints; to investigate complaints of unlawful discrimination in the areas of employment, housing and public accommodations and to seek a remedy when unlawful discrimination is found; to provide fair, current and state of the art investigative standards.  To encourage policies, remedies and practices which carry out the spirit and intent of equal employment, housing and public accommodations.  To encourage public and private employers, individuals and citizens to appreciate and value generational, gender, racial, religious, disability and cultural differences.  To respond to all inquiries to the Department in an appropriate manner and to attempt to resolve disparities or problems locally whenever possible.  To strive to eliminate unlawful discriminatory conduct and its subsequent ill effects to the economic and social vitality of the community.  To support a responsive forum for the human rights needs of the citizenry.


Monetary donations and office supplies are needed by the Human Relations
Department (HRD).  All donations are accepted.  Currently, the Human Relations
Commission (HRC) is accepting monetary donations from the public in the form of
co-sponsorship of public events.  Checks are preferred, made payable to the Board
of County Commissioners, with a note in the memo section that the funds are in
support of HRC public events.  All checks should be sent to the Human Relations
Department, 5370 Public Safety Place, Frederick, MD 21704.  Your generous support
of the HRC and HRD are greatly appreciated.
