Cancer Prevention Services
Services are provided in four major areas of public health in order to help prevent chronic diseases in Frederick County:
- Outreach
- Education
- Screening
- Treatment
Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening
Provides free breast and cervical cancer screening services for Frederick County residents who meet income eligibility guidelines and are:
- Women
- Between the ages of 40-64
Area health care providers perform yearly mammograms, PAP tests and clinical breast exams.

Colorectal Cancer Screening
Provides free colorectal cancer screening services for Frederick County residents
who meet income eligibility guidelines and are:
- Between the ages of 50 - 64
- Younger than 50 with a personal or family history of colorectal cancer

Outreach & Education
Community outreach and educational presentations are available to all age groups regarding breast and cervical cancer, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, and skin cancer.
Our skin cancer presentations focus on all age groups, but special emphasis is given to elementary and middle school aged children. SunGuard Man, a superhero who fights dangerous ultraviolet radiation, is one of the teaching tools utilized with young children during community presentations.
