Current Transportation Studies

MD 355 / MD 85 Transportation Oriented Design Study

Frederick County is excited to be able to partner with the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG) through participation in the MWCOG Transportation Land Use Connections (TLC)  program for the MD 85 / MD 355 Transportation Oriented Design Study. This project will identify ways to enhance transit oriented development through short-term bicycle, pedestrian and transit improvements and by reviewing long term land use recommendations. As a result of the update of the Countywide Comprehensive Plan, numerous small areas and corridors have been identified for detailed land use analysis, needs assessment and design recommendations. The MD 355/MD 85 commercial corridors around the Monocacy MARC Rail Station and Francis Scott Key (FSK) Mall are a priority for the application of coordinated transportation and land use planning in the county due to the proximity to existing and proposed multi-modal transportation networks.
