Free Prescription Discount Drug Program

Frederick County Executive Jan Gardner announced programs to save citizens money.  The National Association of Counties’ Live Healthy initiative includes the free discount prescription program and now includes low-cost health and dental discount programs.

“Everyone deserves an opportunity to live healthy and have a bright future!” said Executive Gardner.  “Our residents can see significant savings in the high cost of prescription medications by simply presenting the discount card.  It is free to all county residents and can lower the cost of prescriptions even to people with insurance.

“We’re going the extra mile for county residents who need discounts on treatments, supplies and procedures to improve their health,” said Executive Gardner.  “This affordable health care program includes discounted rates on a wide range of dental procedures and services, as well as vision care and equipment, hearing aids and screenings, lab work, diabetes supplies and much more.”

Residents can participate in the health program, the dental program, or both. The discount programs are not insurance. Rather, they offer reduced costs for services and supplies.

These programs provide residents with immediate access to dental providers with no waiting periods.  Participants will save on average between 15% - 50% on most dental procedures from a national network of general dentists and specialists. Frederick County Government is able to share these programs with residents as a member of the National Association of Counties.

The health and dental discounts may be used by all county residents, regardless of age, income or existing health coverage.
