Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels provides two meals a day to homebound adults age 60 or older, or adults of any age with a chronic health condition or disability who meet program eligibility guidelines, and live in Frederick County. A hot meal is delivered midday, accompanied by a cold meal that can be refrigerated and eaten later. Participants must be homebound due to illness or physical limitations, not able to prepare meals, and have no caregiver to assist with food shopping and preparation, or cannot safely prepare food due to physical, mental, or emotional impairment.
Meals are planned and prepared to meet the Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDAs) for older adults. Special diets currently offered include regular, diabetic/low carbohydrate, low sodium, and mechanical soft menus. Additional special diets may be available from some vendors.
Home Delivered Meals
Home delivered meals are available for homebound older adults, 60 years or older who meet the program eligibility requirements and live within the service areas of senior centers in Brunswick, Emmitsburg, Frederick and Urbana. Homebound older adults who are unable to participate in a congregate dining program due to health problems can benefit from home delivered meals as a way to remain in their homes and communities while maintaining nutritional health.
Home delivered meals also present an opportunity for regular wellness checks, as well as coordination of referrals for other services.
Please review the Eligibility Guidelines before submitting an application.
To submit an application, please print a Program Application, complete the form and submit it to the Frederick County Division of Aging and Independence by email, fax or mail.

Senior Center Lunch Bunch Program
The purpose of the daily Lunch Bunch at each senior center is to provide older adults with the opportunity to enjoy a nutritious meal in the company of others in order to promote good health and continued independence. A meal is available at mid-day, Monday-Thursday, at one of the four senior centers for on-site dining. Voluntary contributions toward daily meal offerings are greatly appreciated, but not required. Please contact the center supervisor to arrange for service.
In addition, all centers schedule special event meals such as Lunch & Learns and celebration meals. Please check the monthly activity calendar for details. These special event meals require advance reservation. Please note, some meals have a set cost associated with the event and payment is due at the time of reservation. Please contact the center supervisor for additional information or if the fee is a hardship.
