Senior Services Division (Formerly Department of Aging)
Area Plan

Every four years, each of the 650-plus Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) around the country develops an Area Plan, as mandated by the Older Americans Act of 1965. The Frederick County Senior Services Division is the Area Agency on Aging for Frederick County. The plans are updated every year and will be completely revised next year, looking toward the next 4 years, 2020-2024. Area Plan FY'19 outlines how the federal and some state grant funds will be used toward the provision of services for older adults, caregivers and people with disabilities.

Middletown Outreach

Program Specialists from the Frederick County Senior Services Division will be at the Middletown Town Hall the first Monday of every month from 1-3:30 p.m.
to answer questions, provide information and provide application assistance to seniors, their families and caregivers on Medicare benefits, housing options, medical and dental services, the Meals on Wheels program and other county services and resources. Please see the press release for additional information.

Senior Services is pleased to announce increased opportunities to register and pay for classes and activities on-line at our eStore as well as purchase gift certificates for participants of senior center dining.  Meals on Wheels and Home Delivered Meal Gift Certificates are also available for current meal Recipients.

Assessing the Needs of the Older Adult Population in Frederick County

The Seniors First Committee was tasked to make recommendations on how the county should structurally organize and deliver services; review the Needs Assessment of the Aging Population (executive summary) that was completed in 2013; and implement the action items in the needs assessment.
The Seniors First Report was released to the public during Executive Gardner's public information briefing on November 28, 2016.

Caregiving in the U.S.: Business Challenges and Opportunities

Mission Statement

The mission of the Frederick County Senior Services Division is to develop and administer programs and activities that support older adults and adults with disabilities in their efforts to remain healthy, active and independent members of the community, and to provide, coordinate and advocate for services which promote the dignity and enrichment of life for all seniors, persons with disabilities, families and caregivers.
