The South Frederick Corridors Plan

Project Information

The South Frederick Corridors Plan is the a second planning effort to implement the award-winning Livable Frederick Master Plan. Livable Frederick describes a vivid framework for the future of the county centering around four themes: Our Economy, Our Environment, Our Health, and Our Community. As a part of this implementation, corridor planning will commence for an area of Frederick County that has been a major economic center for the last few decades.

The South Frederick Corridors Plan will examine this economic center, which is composed of existing commercial and industrial land to the south of Frederick City along Urbana Pike (MD355) and Buckeystown Pike (MD85), and constitutes 20% of the county’s jobs, 15% of the county’s business establishments, and 15% of the county’s total wages (2017 US Bureau of Labor Statistics). Among the many factors that will be involved in developing the South Frederick Corridors Plan are goals related to reinforcing and creating economic strengths and assets, supporting existing business and industries, and fostering innovation and opportunity.
