Fleet Services

Responsibilities


The Fleet Services Department is responsible for the acquisition, maintenance, and disposal of the county’s fleet of 661 vehicles and equipment. The department also manages the county’s fuel inventory and tracks all fuel dispensed into county vehicles.

Vehicles


County-owned vehicles include cars and light trucks, cruisers, heavy-duty trucks, construction and off-road equipment, fire apparatus, transit buses, and a wide range of specialty equipment.

Facilities


Fleet Services operates in the following 3 facilities:
  • Light Truck and Car shop, Heavy Equipment and Truck shop, and Fire Apparatus shop -        331 Montevue Lane
  • Light vehicle shop - 110 Airport Drive - Law Enforcement Center
  • TransIt Bus Maintenance Facility - 1040 Rocky Spring Road

Employees


Fleet Services has 28 employees and an operating budget of $17.6 million, for Fiscal Year 2018.
Of the 28 employees, Fleet has the following certifications:
  •     9 Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Master Certified Technicians
  •     1 Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) Master Certified Technicians
  •     1 ASE Certified Auto Part Specialist
  •   11 Total EVT Certificates
  • 156 Total ASE Certificates  
Fleet Services utilizes Gov Deals for the disposal of county vehicles and equipment.
