FREDERICK, Md – The Division of Public Works, Traffic and Permit Section, announced that changes to traffic control at the intersection of Crestwood Boulevard and Hannover Drive are planned for June 5, 2023. Currently, vehicles on Hannover Drive are required to stop at the intersection with Crestwood Boulevard, and vehicles on Crestwood Boulevard do not stop. As of June 5, 2023, all three legs of the intersection will be required to stop when a new stop sign goes into effect on that date.
The additional stop sign on Crestwood Boulevard is considered necessary to address pedestrian- vehicle conflicts. A significant number of school children cross at this intersection, and drivers from Crestwood Boulevard fail to yield to pedestrians at the crosswalk on Hannover Drive.
In accordance with Maryland driving law, at all intersections controlled with all-way stop signs in Maryland, the vehicle that arrives first may proceed through the intersection after coming to a stop at the stop sign.
If more than one vehicle arrives at the stop signs at approximately the same time, the motorist must yield to the vehicle to the right.
