DIAZ SENTENCED TO THIRTY YEARS FOR HEROIN POSSESSION

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FREDERICK- Hector Giovanni Diaz, 27, of Frederick, MD, was sentenced today by the Honorable G. Edward Dwyer Jr. in two cases for a total of 30 years – 15 suspended with 15 to serve at the Division of Corrections, the first five years without parole. On December 9, 2015 he pled to one count of Possession of Heroin Large Amount and one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin.

Diaz was first arrested on March 19, 2015 after the Frederick County Narcotics Unit received an anonymous tip that Diaz had been dealing heroin out of a hotel room at the Francis Scott Key Holiday Inn. He was plead guilty to Possession of Heroin Large Amount (48.3 gms – subjecting him to a minimum mandatory sentence of 5 years without parole). He was arrested again on April 23, 2015 after a car that he was a passenger in was found to contain a large quantity of heroin. For this offense he plead guilty to Possession With intent to Distribute Heroin (38.6 gms).

Upon completion of his sentence he will serve three years of supervised probation.
