The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is announcing two promotions and one transfer within the agency, effective 01/23/2016. Sergeant Jason West was promoted to the rank of lieutenant, and Deputy First Class David Keefer to the rank of corporal. Additionally, Corporal Amanda Ensor was transferred from patrol operations to assume the role of agency spokesperson.
Sheriff Jenkins said, “I’m happy to announce the promotion of these two deputies within the Sheriff’s Office. Both of these young men have worked extremely hard, having excelled in their previous duty assignments and in the promotional process. Lt. West and Cpl. Keefer are great examples of the type of performance and commitment we expect from our supervisors and commanders.”
He added, “It’s also important that I recognize Cpl. Amanda Ensor who is stepping into the role of our agency spokesperson. Coming from her previous assignment in the patrol division, Amanda has already hit the ground running with a lot of enthusiasm and ideas in her new role in working with local media. I believe she will do very well working with local media outlets.”
Lieutenant West began his career with the Sheriff’s Office as a patrol deputy in 1999. In 2005, he was transferred to the criminal investigations section as an investigator, and promoted to the rank of corporal later in the year. He remained in the division where he supervised the persons’ crimes unit until 2013. In 2013, he was promoted to sergeant and transferred to patrol operations. As a lieutenant, he will proudly serve as a commander in the special operations division.
Corporal Keefer first worked as a courthouse deputy in 2005 and attended the police academy in 2006. From 2006 to 2009, he was assigned to patrol operations. Corporal Keefer was most recently assigned to the agency’s narcotics unit prior to his promotion, at which time he was transferred back to patrol.
Corporal Amanda Ensor was a supervisor assigned to patrol team 3 in patrol operations prior to her transfer to the position of agency spokesperson.
