PRODOEHL SENTENCED TO TWENTY-THREE YEARS FOR FIRST DEGREE ASSAULT, ATTEMPTED THIRD DEGREE SEXUAL OFFENSE

FREDERICK- Brian Charles Prodoehl, 28, of Frederick, MD, was sentenced today by the Honorable G. Edward Dwyer Jr. to 23 years in the Division of Correction, with all but 18 years suspended. Prodoehl pled guilty on December 3, 2015, to First Degree Assault and to Attempted Sexual Offense in the Third Degree.

On July 21, 2014 the Frederick Police Department received a report of an assault near the 1100 block of East Patrick Street. The victim, an adult female, reported that she had been grabbed from behind by her assailant and was strangled to the point where she lost consciousness. The offenses occurred along a cleared path in a wooded area off the roadway. Through the use of video surveillance at a local gas station police were able to identify Prodoehl as the individual that followed the victim down the road and into the woods. He returned to the same gas station minutes later, quickly entered his vehicle and and fled the scene. Prodoehl was arrested and charged on July 30, 2014.

The victim received multiple cuts and abrasions and suffered severe petecchial hemorrhaging in her face and eyes, which are symptomatic of strangulation. She was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Upon completion of his sentence Prodoehl will serve five years of supervised probation. He will also have to register as a Tier III sex offender for Life. He will also be subject to GPS monitoring and polygraph testing at the direction of his agent.

The State was represented by Chief Assistant State’s Attorney Lindell Angel.
