The Corridor Management Plan for the US 15 Catoctin Mountain Scenic Byway helps to preserve and enhance the US 15 corridor through Frederick County.

The US 15 Catoctin Mountain Scenic Byway began as a State of Maryland Scenic Byways designation and subsequently became a piece of the Journey Through Hallowed Ground National Scenic Byway that runs from Monticello, Virginia to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, with the Maryland portion running from Point of Rocks to Emmitsburg along the Catoctin Mountain. The Historic National Road is another National and State of Maryland Scenic Byway located in Frederick County.
