Courthouse Cell Phone & Electronic Devices Policy

Policy

Effective January 1, 2011
Under Maryland Rule 16-208, possession and use of cell phones, computers, and other electronic devices may be limited or prohibited in designated areas of court facilities.

Court Room Rules

  • All electronic devices must be turned off and out of view
  • No phone calls or text messaging
  • No photographing
  • No audio or video recording
  • All persons and articles are subject to physical search by court security personnel
  • Failure to abide by these rules may result in confiscation of equipment and/or contempt charges

The above rules are enacted upon the Authority of the Chief Administrative Judge.
