Emergency Services is the largest section within the Division of Fire and Rescue Services with over 300 uniformed full time and part-time employees who are assigned to fire / rescue stations throughout Frederick County and other field assignments.
Frederick County Fire/Rescue is an all-hazard response agency that includes within the Operations a Special Operations Section. Special Operations is responsible for providing services related to Confined Space Rescue, Hazardous Materials Response, Structural Collapse Rescue, Tactical Emergency Medical Services, Trench Rescue, Technical Rope Rescue, and Water Rescue Operations. Additionally acts as a liaison to the Frederick County volunteer-operated Dive Team. Employees work either a 24-hour on duty / 48-hour off-duty schedule, or a 12-hour, 4-day-week schedule.
