The Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services (DFRS) launched its Drone or Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Program in 2016 recognizing the need and emerging technology drones provide to Public Safety. DFRS started the program with a single drone and five FAA Part 107 certified pilots. The UAS has been utilized for all hazards to include search and rescue, survey storm damage, fire investigations, special operations missions, and large brush fires. Currently, there are ten certified pilots with plans to continue to increase our fleet of drones.
Any requests for the Drone or general questions should be directed to Program Coordinator Lieutenant Stephen Ward.
