Following precedent and law, the Planning Commission should review and ultimately concur with any changes to the MGE before it is presented to the County. Out of respect for the Commission's crucial role in long term growth planning, and out of respect for the County Commissioners and Board of Aldermen's time, the Mayor has asked to cancel the meeting tonight. After speaking with Board president Gardner, the decision has been made to cancel tonight's joint meeting. Mayor McClement has directed Planning staff to brief the Planning Commission on the proposed changes at their June 14th meeting. Following that, and taking into account any changes they recommend, the meeting with the Board of County Commissioners will be rescheduled at a later date.
