County Council President Bud Otis will honor Katharine
Moore, Alma Palm and their families for the loss of their beloved PFC James
Moore, Jr., a paratrooper who died in action in Vietnam on April 2, 1966.
He was 19 years old. The family has mourned his loss for over 52 years.
“It is long overdue that we show our gratitude and profound
appreciation for those who put their precious lives on the line for our country
during one of the most contentious times in our nation,” said Council President
Otis. “They bravely and selflessly answered the call of duty. We hope to
share a heartfelt tribute to PFC James Moore, Jr.’s family. It is a long
time in coming, but not too late to recognize the tremendous sacrifice this
family has given to protect our country. We want to honor him as a hero
and extend our deep and solemn appreciation to his family.”
