[ARCHIVED] Traffic Calming Devices Installed in Villages of Urbana

DPW

The Frederick County Department of Engineering and Construction Management announced that Frederick County has contracted with an outside vendor to install traffic calming devices at the intersection of Lew Wallace Street, Stone Barn Drive and Urbana Pike in the Villages of Urbana subdivision in Urbana, Md.

Construction work began today and installation will continue throughout the week for traffic calming devices, including a 3” high “Watts profile” speed hump on Lew Wallace Street and a 3” high raised crosswalk on Stone Barn Drive and Urbana Pike.  The devices are designed to slow vehicles to a reasonable speed as they traverse the intersection and will not prevent snow plowing operations or impede emergency response vehicles.
