FREDERICK, MD – Hoovers Mill Road bridge over Owens Creek will be closed on or about June 8, 2020, the Division of Public Works; Office of Transportation Engineering announced today. The closure will allow contractor Franco’s Liberty Bridge, Inc. to rehabilitate the bridge.
The project is scheduled to last until fall 2020, weather permitting. The project work includes replacing floor beams, stringers and deck, repairing truss members and abutments, constructing new wingwalls and installing new traffic barriers and bridge railing.
A signed detour route will be in place during the road closure. The detour will utilize Hoovers Mill Road, MD 77/Rocky Ridge Road and Frushour Road. The Office of Transportation Engineering has notified emergency personnel and school officials.
