FREDERICK, Md. – Hundreds of Frederick County Government employees are serving residents in ways outside their normal roles during the COVID-19 pandemic, staffing vaccination clinics, an appointment call center, and food distribution efforts. County Executive Jan Gardner highlighted work of these public servants during her weekly coronavirus update. Staff from Frederick County Public Libraries, TransIT, the Scott Key Center, Finance, Interagency Information Technologies, and the Office of the County Executive are among the departments assisting the Frederick County Health Department and the Senior Services Division in their responses to the health crisis.

“Taking care of people is our top priority,” Executive Gardner said. “I appreciate the willingness of so many employees to step up to make sure our residents are vaccinated and our vulnerable seniors are fed. We will continue to focus on providing these critical services over the next few months.”

Frederick County continues to see a rise in new cases of COVID-19, as well as more deaths in the community. As of this morning, a total of 17,893 cases have been confirmed in the county. 288 people have died as a result, 10 of them in the past seven days.

To date, 65,679 county residents, or 25.3%, have received their first dose of vaccine, and 35,774 (13.8%) have been fully vaccinated.

The public is reminded that face coverings are required in all indoor public spaces, and in outdoor spaces where people cannot consistently maintain 6 feet of distance from people who are not members of their household.
