[ARCHIVED] Reminder: County to Resume Normal Operations April 4

Winchester Hall in the Spring

FREDERICK, Md. – Most Frederick County Government facilities will resume normal operations beginning Monday, April 4.  Public access to most County buildings, which had been limited to appointments with staff, will be available to walk-in traffic as of 8 a.m. Some agencies have modified their access, as outlined below:

Animal Control

  • Animal visitation will be offered six days a week, Monday through Saturday, for those interested in adopting a shelter pet. Evening hours will be available on Wednesdays. Reservations are required and can be made at visitFCAC.as.me. Virtual adoptions will continue.
  • Administrative offices remain open for licensing, lost and found pets, trap loans and other related functions on a walk-in basis from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; and from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. On Saturdays, the facility will be open 9 am to 4 pm. For additional information, call 301-600-1546 or email animalcontrol@frederickcountymd.gov.

Senior Services

  • In order to assure safe and adequate distancing, in-person programs will have limited seating capacity, masks are strongly recommended, and pre-registration will be required for all programs and activities at senior centers. Drop-in activities are not offered at this time. A full complement of virtual activities and programs also will be available.
  • Fitness programs will remain virtual, but some on-site opportunities exist at centers to allow individuals who do not have internet access to follow along with the instructor on a large screen.

TransIT

  • All services, including Transit-Plus, continue to operate fare-free, with masks required onboard. TransIT’s offices remain closed to the public as a result of the ongoing construction project.
