[ARCHIVED] Legislative Town Hall Scheduled for Monday, October 7 at 6:00 PM

FREDERICK, Md. – Residents are invited to attend County Executive Jessica Fitzwater’s annual Legislative Town Hall on Monday, October 7, 2024 at 6 PM. The meeting will take place at Winchester Hall, 12 East Church Street in Frederick. This annual meeting provides an opportunity for members of the public to voice their opinions, share ideas, and provide input that will help shape the County’s legislative priorities for the upcoming 2025 Session of the Maryland General Assembly.

“This town hall meeting is a vital part of the planning process to gather public feedback that will guide our County’s legislative priorities,” said County Executive Jessica Fitzwater. “As Frederick County continues to face new challenges and opportunities, it is essential we focus on policies that reflect the evolving needs of our residents.”

The Legislative Town Hall will serve as a forum for Frederick County Government to hear from the public on a range of legislative topics such as infrastructure, public health, transportation, economic development, sustainability, safety, transparency, and more. Last year’s legislative priorities focused on historic preservation, safety standards, and transportation. Input from residents will be critical in ensuring that County priorities reflect the community’s needs as we move forward into the next Maryland legislative session.

The main objectives of the event are to gain community input on key issues that will inform the County’s legislative agenda, share updates on upcoming initiatives, and encourage public engagement in the policy-making process.

“This event offers an important platform for residents to express their views on the issues that matter most and contribute to the County’s policy-making process,” added Fitzwater. “I believe that the most effective policies are shaped by the people they impact.”

For members of the public who are unable to attend in person, the meeting will be televised on FCGTV, cable channels 1072 and 19, and livestreamed at www.FrederickCountyMD.gov/LegislativeTownHall. To call in via phone, dial 855-925-2801 and enter meeting code 8634. Those who call in will be able to leave a recorded message by pressing *2 or join a queue to share a live comment by pressing *3.

There are several Frederick County Transit options that serve Winchester Hall for those attending via public transportation. The 51 and 61 Connectors serve Market Street and Church Street, less than two blocks from Winchester Hall. The 40, 50, 60, and 65 Connectors, and the Brunswick/Jefferson, North Frederick, and Emmitsburg/Thurmont Shuttles operate nearby.
