FREDERICK, Md. – Frederick County Government offices will be closed Monday, January 20, 2025, for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. County offices and services will return to regularly scheduled hours Tuesday, January 21.
Clarifications to the holiday schedule:
- Animal Control: Administrative office will be closed, and kennels will be closed for adoptions Monday, January 20. Animal Control Officers will be available for routine calls for service only Monday, January 20, call 301-600-1544. For emergency situations, call 301-600-1603 or visit www.FrederickCountyMD.gov/animalcontrol.
- Board of Elections: Office will be closed. For further details, visit www.FrederickCountyMD.gov/elections or call 301-600-VOTE.
- Department of Social Services: The office will be closed Monday, January 20 and will open for regularly scheduled hours Tuesday, January 21. For further details, call 1-800-332-6347 or visit www.dhs.maryland.gov.
- Division of Solid Waste and Recycling: The Reich’s Ford Road Facility, including the Transfer Station, Yard Waste and Compost Programs, Citizens Convenience Center, and Recycling Center, will be OPEN on Martin Luther King Day with limited customer support. Recycling collection will not be impacted.

- Frederick County Public Libraries: Libraries will be closed Sunday, January 19 and Monday, January 20. Curbside pickup and telephone reference will not be available. For further details, call 301-600-1630 or visit www.fcpl.org.
- Frederick County Courts and State’s Attorney’s Office: District and Circuit Courts will be closed Monday, January 20 and will open during regularly scheduled hours Tuesday, January 21.
