[ARCHIVED] Frederick County Announces Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Event on October 11

Frederick, Md –  People who live in Frederick County are invited to the Division of Solid Waste and Recycling’s Fall Household Hazardous Waste drop-off event on Saturday, October 11. The event will take place from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. in the upper-level parking lot of Keys Stadium at 21 Stadium Drive in Frederick.

This semi-annual event ensures people can responsibly dispose of hazardous waste generated inside Frederick County residences at no cost.

Household hazardous waste causes danger to our solid waste system. This includes materials such as pesticides, herbicides, fluorescent bulbs, lithium-ion batteries, button batteries, solvents, and other items that may or may not be labeled as “Hazardous Waste.”

 Details about the event:

  • Bring identification showing you live in Frederick County.
  • Know what items you want to dispose of.
  • Lines can form during this event. Be prepared for potential wait times longer than 10 minutes.
  • Walk-ups will not be accepted. Stay in your vehicle until directed.
  • Enter Stadium Drive from New Design Road. Left-hand turns into the event are prohibited and could cause traffic delays or accidents.
  • Follow all signs and directions from County staff and its on-site contractor.
  • Other Frederick County Government divisions will be attending to provide information about programs, including Fire and Rescue services, who will talk about battery fire safety. Service vehicles will be on site but will not be operational.
