“On behalf of the Frederick Board of County Commissioners, we mourn the passing of Mark Hoke, a Frederick native who proudly served the citizens of Frederick County as Vice President and President of the Board. He was a great Commissioner and a role model for us all in his military service as a U.S. Army Colonel and Commander of Fort Detrick. He did what he said he was going to do and never beat around the bush.
“He helped shaped Frederick County in many ways, including his service in the military and as commander of Fort Detrick. The Board of County Commissioners extends our deepest sympathies, thoughts and prayers to the Hoke family. Col. Hoke will be greatly missed by all.”
At the request of President Young, Frederick County flags at county facilities will fly at half mast from today until sundown on Monday, January 14, in honor of Mr. Hoke.
