Frederick County Commissioner Billy Shreve will host a public informational meeting on Monday, December 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the first floor hearing room, Winchester Hall, 12 East Church Street, Frederick.
The purpose of the meeting will be to provide information relating to the crop damage, personal property and personal injury done each year due to the effects of an overabundant population of deer. Current state law and regulations prohibit hunting deer with a rifle in certain portions of Frederick County with a rifle, but allow deer hunting with other firearms. Deer hunting with a rifle is allowed in “Northern” Frederick County. The need to expand hunting to permit the use of a rifle will be discussed at the public meeting.
