[ARCHIVED] County Executive Gardner Recognizes Yellow Springs Elementary School Teacher As Milken Award Recipie

In the midst of loud cheers and applause from students, teachers, staff and local dignitaries, Frederick County Executive Jan Gardner joined Dr. Teresa Alban, superintendent of Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS), in recognizing Maggie Hawk, a first-grade teacher at Yellow Springs Elementary School, who was today named a recipient of the prestigious Milken Educator Award.

County Executive Gardner said, “This is such great news for Frederick County! We are so proud that Maggie Hawk has been recognized as a Milken Educator. She has had a profound impact on her students and attributes her success to the spirit of teamwork at Yellow Springs Elementary School. We are delighted that one of our unsung heroes is getting deserved admiration today by all of her students, colleagues and those of us who believe education is one of our most important priorities today.”
