During a press conference, County Executive Jan Gardner announced preparations for Snow Storm Stella and noted county cancellations in light of a National Weather Service Winter Storm Warning that is in effect tonight from 7 p.m. – tomorrow at 2 p.m.
“Frederick County is ready for 8-15” of wet, heavy snow that is predicted to start falling tonight and taper off tomorrow morning,” Executive Gardner said. “I urge residents to plan ahead, stay safe by staying at home and stay off the roads to allow emergency personnel to take care of urgent situations. Our highway crews will clear the priority roads first and then work their way to secondary and residential areas, so we urge everyone to be patient and let them finish opening all the roads before venturing out.”
She also said that Frederick County Government will take the lead in getting drivers off the road by closing administrative offices tomorrow and encouraged businesses and major employers to close as well. In addition, Frederick County Public Libraries will be closed. Also, both the Circuit Court and District Court for Frederick County will be closed.
In addition, the Reichs Ford Road Landfill will be closed tomorrow. Further announcements regarding county offices and activities will be announced in media advisories.
