To encourage recycling in Frederick County, the Department
of Solid Waste Management (DSWM) will expand its recycling collection program
to allow multi-family properties and some small businesses to opt in to the
service. The DSWM implemented single-stream recycling collection in 2009 as a
program for single-family households. Now, multi-family properties with nine or
fewer units as well as specific categories of small businesses located in
residential neighborhoods have the opportunity to participate in this program.
