County Executive Jan Gardner announced that Frederick
County has been named the Outstanding Emergency Medical Services Agency in theState by the Maryland Institute for
Emergency Medical Services Systems.
“I am incredibly proud of the work ouremergency providers do every day helping save lives and responding to critical
incidents,” commented Executive Gardner. “To be named the outstanding EMSsystem in the state is a huge honor. Our citizens can rest assured that
they are receiving the best possible care when they call for help.”
Frederick County was selected to receive the award due to along list of EMS achievements over the past year, such as: earning
national accreditation for the county EMS-paramedic training program that meetsstrict national standards; partnering with local law enforcement agencies for
specialized active assailant training and deployment; instituting apre-hospital ultrasound program; working with the U.S. Army Medical Research
Institute in the event a regional Ebola assessment hospital is needed, andstarting a mobile integrated health program in partnership with the Division of
Fire & Rescue Services, Frederick County Health Department and theFrederick Regional Health System.
