[ARCHIVED] Water and Sewer Billing Changes

FREDERICK, MD – Pre-pandemic billing practices will resume beginning July 1, 2021, according to the Frederick County Division of Water and Sewer Utilities.

Over the past year, Water and Sewer has made it a priority to ensure customers continue to receive safe, clean water flowing into their homes. Frederick County Government understands that this past year was a difficult time for so many of our residents. One of the ways the County helped was by offering assistance with water and sewer payments.

Beginning March 16, 2020, the issuance of interest, disconnections for non-payment and late payment penalties were suspended. To assist customers who were financially impacted by COVID-19, Water and Sewer encouraged and offered customized payment plans upon request.

Effective July 1, 2021, Water and Sewer will reinstate the 1% monthly interest charge on any delinquent account balances. Additionally, the mailing of late notices for past due accounts will resume.

On August 16, 2021, Water and Sewer will resume disconnections for non-payment (and add the associated $100 late payment penalty) on accounts whose balances remain unpaid 60 days from the original bill date. For further information, questions or a list of all payment options, please visit www.FrederickCountyMD.gov/wspaybill or contact the Division of Water and Sewer Utilities billing department at 301-600-2354.
