[ARCHIVED] Frederick County, City of Frederick, Ft. Detrick to hold 9/11 20th Anniversary Event

FREDERICK, Md. – Frederick County Government, The City of Frederick, and Fort Detrick will host a 20th Anniversary remembrance ceremony for 9/11 this Friday, September 10 at 8:30 a.m. at the Baker Park Bandshell in downtown Frederick. The community is invited to attend this special outdoor ceremony. 

The brief ceremony will include remarks from County Executive Jan Gardner, City of Frederick Mayor Michael O’Connor, Army Brigadier General Anthony (Tony) McQueen, U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command and Fort Detrick, Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins, Frederick County Department of Fire and Rescue Services Chief Tom Coe, Frederick Police Chief Jason Lando, as well as the presentation of a joint Proclamation by Frederick County Council Vice President Michael Blue.

The event will also include an invocation and benediction from Lieutenant Colonel Craig Johnson, US Army Garrison Fort Detrick, Chaplain; live musical performances, and a special ringing of carillon bells at 8:46 and 9:03 a.m. to mark the airplane strikes on the World Trade Center buildings in 2001.

This event will be streamed live on the Facebook event page and will be broadcast live on FCG TV channels 19 and 1085.
