FREDERICK, MD – The Frederick County Division of Water and Sewer Utilities, on behalf of the County Executive, will conduct a virtual public hearing on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at 2 p.m. The purpose of the hearing is to present changes to the Water and Sewer Rules and Regulations (R&R) that propose cross-connection control regulations in accordance with the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR). COMAR 26.04.01.32 requires a water supplier to submit a plan for cross-connection control to the Maryland Department of the Environment for approval. These regulations are designed to greatly reduce the risk of contamination of the public drinking water supply. The proposed changes to the R&R include updating Appendix B – Capacity Adjustment Factors for Commercial, Industrial and Institutional Customers, and other miscellaneous “housekeeping” revisions within the document. These regulations mostly affect commercial, industrial and non-residential property owners; however, they affect all County water customers.
