[ARCHIVED] Virtual Public Hearing: Sept. 1 on Proposed Revisions & Updates to the Water/Sewer Rules & Regs

Ballenger Water Storage Tank (4)

FREDERICK, MD – The Frederick County Division of Water and Sewer Utilities, on behalf of the County Executive, will conduct a virtual public hearing on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at 2 p.m. The purpose of the hearing is to present changes to the Water and Sewer Rules and Regulations (R&R) that propose cross-connection control regulations in accordance with the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR). COMAR 26.04.01.32 requires a water supplier to submit a plan for cross-connection control to the Maryland Department of the Environment for approval. These regulations are designed to greatly reduce the risk of contamination of the public drinking water supply. The proposed changes to the R&R include updating Appendix B – Capacity Adjustment Factors for Commercial, Industrial and Institutional Customers, and other miscellaneous “housekeeping” revisions within the document. These regulations mostly affect commercial, industrial and non-residential property owners; however, they affect all County water customers. To watch the meeting live or view in a different language, please visit https://publicinput.com/QT2680. To listen to the meeting or provide live public comment, dial 1-855-925-2801, and enter code 7597. The proposed changes can be viewed on the County’s website at www.frederickcountymd.gov/106/Water-Sewer-Utilities under the Public Meeting and Hearings Tab. Copies can be requested by contacting the Division of Water and Sewer Utilities at 301-600-2997, or at 4520 Metropolitan Court, Frederick, Maryland 21704. The County Executive may modify the proposed changes before approval. Members of the public will be given three (3) minutes per speaker to comment via telephone. Comments may also be sent in writing to the address listed above, or by email to DWSUCrossConnection@FrederickCountyMD.gov and must be received by 4 p.m. (EST) on September 7, 2022. The public is reminded that all comments, both written and oral, will be made part of the public record. Recorded messages must include a caller’s name and hometown at the beginning of the message. Persons requiring special accommodations for this public meeting are requested to contact the Office of the Director at 301-600-2997 (TTY: Use Maryland Relay) to make the necessary arrangements no later than three (3) business days prior to the meeting.
