[ARCHIVED] Frederick County Government Services to Be Closed on Labor Day


FREDERICK, MD – Frederick County Government offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 5, for the Labor Day holiday. Services will resume at their regularly scheduled times on Tuesday, Sept. 6. 

Additional information related to the holiday schedule:

1) Animal Control & Adoption Center will be closed for pet adoptions. For details visit: Animal Control Officers will be on duty 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.: 301-600-1544. For Animal-related emergencies, call 301- 600-1603.

2) Board of Elections will be closed. Details: 301-600-VOTE (8683) or 

3) Department of Social Services All offices will be closed.

4) Health Department: All offices will be closed. Details: call 301-600-1029 or visit

5) Landfill and the Reichs Ford Road Recycling Center will be closed. There will be no curbside recycling pick-up that day and all recycling collections will shift one day later than usual for the remainder of the week. Details: 301-600-2960 or visit 

6) Frederick County Public Libraries will be closed on Sunday, September 4, and Monday, September 5. Curbside pickup and telephone reference will not be available on these days. Call for Details: 301-600-1630 or visit

7) TransIT Services: The TransIT office will be closed and all TransIT services will be canceled for the Labor Day Holiday. MARC Train and the 204, 505, and 515 Commuter Bus services will be canceled. Details: call 301-600-2065 or visit 

8) Frederick County Courts and State’s Attorney’s Office District and Circuit Courts are closed. State’s Attorney offices will also be closed
