Frederick County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association to Host Association Fire Prevention and Life Safety Ambassador Contest

 

FREDERICK, MD -- Frederick County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association is sponsoring the 2022-2023 Frederick County Fire Prevention & Life Safety Ambassador Contest to be held Sunday, November 20, 2022, at the Urbana Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department social hall at 3:00 pm.  The public is invited to attend.

 

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BELONG TO A FIRE AND/OR RESCUE COMPANY TO PARTICIPATE!  THERE IS NO ENTRY FEE FOR THIS CONTEST!

 

Age requirements:     Miss:  females 16-24      Jr. Miss:  females 11-15      Little Miss:  females 7-10         

                                           Jr. Fire Chief:  males 10-12      Little Fire Chief:  males 7-9

                                                                                      

Winners in each female category will receive a crown, sash, trophy, and flowers.   Each runner-up will receive a trophy and flowers.  Little & Jr. Fire Chief winners will receive a hat, medallion, and trophy.  Chief runner-up contestants will receive a trophy.

Judging will be based on poise, appearance, speaking ability, and knowledge of fire prevention & life safety topics.  Little Miss, Little Fire Chief, & Jr. Fire Chief contestants must present a poster/drawing of any fire prevention & life safety-related topic.  Jr. Miss & Miss contestants will conduct a 5-minute fire prevention presentation during an interview with the judges.  Extensive knowledge of the contest topics is not required as each contestant can be assigned a mentor to prepare for the event.   

 

Those selected as ambassadors for Frederick County Fire & Rescue will promote fire prevention and life safety at various events throughout the year.  The winner in the “Miss” category will go on to compete at the Maryland State Firemen’s Association’s annual Miss Fire Prevention Contest which will be held in Ocean City, MD during June 2023.

 

Applications, along with rules and regulations may be obtained from The Frederick County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association website (www.FCVFRA.com).  Applications must be received no later than November 12, 2022.
